Shexia Village is located in the south of Chonglingjiang Town, Guiyang County. The village is named for its high terrain and surrounding mountains. It has successively won the honorary titles of Provincial Model Village for Rural Revitalization, Left-behind Children and Healthy Centenarians. Since the launch of the rural revitalization work in 2021, the village has taken on a new look. New culture and trend have been deeply rooted in people’s mind and the village ecology has developed harmoniously.
In order to ensure a clean ecological environment, the village has formulated a cleaning system, built 4 garbage pools, distributed 50 trash cans to the local, and hired 6 cleaners to regularly clean up the garbage in public places.
In addition, the village urges the villagers to implement the responsibility of “three guarantees (clean, orderly and tidy) in front of the door” through assessment and evaluation. Everyone works together to maintain their beautiful village.
Before the renovation of the Zou's Family Cultural Square, it was a concentration of old and dilapidated houses. Since Guiyang County launched the “100-Day Special Campaign” to improve the rural living environment, the village task-force and two village committees have managed to remove 40 “hollow buildings” with an area of 1,300 square meters. The villagers also self-raised 650,000 yuan, after a vote of the villager’s congress, to build the Zou Family Cultural Square and the Zou's Family Ancestral Hall, which have become good places for relaxation and entertainment.
In view of the village’s ancient, out-of-repair and dilapidated buildings, the village task-force actively tried every means to properly protect them and preserve the original appearance as much as possible for maintenance. In addition, the ancient pavilions and houses, which have survived since the establishment of the village 600 years ago, are gradually being repaired, and many valuable old objects are better protected and inherited.
“In the next step, the village task-force will cooperate with the two village committees to flexibly combine rural revitalization with the protection of ancient buildings, retain culture and nostalgia while developing industries, and explore a new path for the economic development of traditional villages.” Liu Jianxiong, the leader of the village task-force in Shexia Village, talked about the future.
